LANSING – The first week of the Midwest League's 2008 season has come and gone, but not without some accolades for the Lansing Lugnuts. Designated hitter and first baseman Manny Rodriguez was named the Midwest League's hitter of the week for the first 10 games of the year.
Rodriguez was 14-for-29 with two home runs and 13 RBI during the span, pacing the league in hits, RBI, and doubles (5).
The award is given out each week to the most outstanding hitter and hurler in the Midwest League. Rodriguez becomes the first Lugnut to receive the honor since Travis Snider won it twice last year. Yuber Rodriguez also took the award home during a torrid stretch in May last season.
